The routes take in the distinctive Simonside Hills near Rothbury; the edge of Kielder Forest, Europe's largest man-made woodland; the ruggedly beautiful Coquet Gorge; and the lovely coastline around Embleton, Bamburgh and Alnmouth.
Along the way there is the opportunity to visit the intriguing St Cuthbert's Cave near Holdborn; the dramatic ruins of Dunstanburgh castle in its impressive coastal setting; historic Warkworth with its medieval castle and fortified bridge; Housesteads, one of the most complete Roman forts in Britain; and the charming St Mary's Lighthouse in Whitley Bay.
