Doreen Whitehead first compiled this useful pocket guide in the 1980's when it contained a mere 26 accommodation providers. It has now become the best source of places to stay along the route of this classic of walks.

 

Whether you're at Ennerdale in the Lake District, or Grosmont on the North York Moors, you'll find many listings for B & Bs, plus some small hotels and campgrounds. No descriptions, no photos - just names, addresses, phone numbers, number of rooms, prices, smoking policies.

 

When an establishment is a mile or two off the Coast to Coast route, it says so; some of these hosts will pick up and drop off walkers on request. The booklet carries some advertising. Most entries have links to their own websites and email addresses.
