The North York Moors National Park, established in 1952, is famed as being England's largest open heather moor. Covering a staggering 554 square miles with the colours changing according to the time of year and season, this is an area which attracts painters and photographers as well as walkers. The bonus for all visitors is the 25 miles of magnificent coastal scenery.

AA 30 Walks in North Yorkshire
Walks of 2 to 10 miles
walking-books.com got there first but this publication follows with a similar concept taking 30 of the most popular walks in North Yorkshire from the AA's newly updated walks database and packages them on individual laminated cards in an easy-to-carry, durable box. The cards are pocket-sized to carry with you on your walk, and are durable and weatherproof to protect them from the elements. Each walk is carefully selected to suit all levels of fitness and ability, and clear route directions and maps make them easy-to-follow. The small and handy size means that the box can be stowed away in a pocket or purse, and single cards extracted at each walk's starting point.
