With very good road and rail links to the capital, Surrey offers plenty
of good walking almost on London's doorstep and, making use of the
railway stations at Witley and Haslemere, there's a linear walk through
the Low Weald of 7 miles connecting the two stations.
Walks with
historical interest include those to Hillbury Iron Age hill fort, Farley
Roman Temple, an 11th-century church at Charlwood and Outwood windmill.
Waterside walks take in the River Wey Navigation at Pyrford, the Wey
itself at Tilford, Silent Pool and the Tilling Bourne at Albury, and
stepping stones across the River Mole near Box Hill.
The Downs provide
wonderful viewpoints at Farley Hill, Leith Hill and Box Hill as well as
attractive villages at Churt, Peaslake, Shere and Wotton.
28 outstanding
circular walks in Surrey from 3 to 11 miles with clear, large scale
Ordnance Survey route maps, GPS waypoints, where to park, good pubs and
places of interest en route.
All routes have been researched and written
by expert outdoor writer Fiona Barltrop and showcase beautiful
