High Pub Walks in the Peak District

High Pub Walks in the Peak District

What better way to visit them than on foot? All these pubs welcome walkers, many do food, have accommodation and real ale from local independent breweries.

The walks generally start from the pub and with certain rare exceptions, can be reached by public transport, so you can leave your car at home and savour the liquid products on offer.

About the author:

Martin was a transport planner with the Peak District National Park for many years before moving to work for Derbyshire County Council. He has an intimate knowledge of much of the National Park, but his keenest interest is in the area's industrial archaeology, especially its transport and, of course, the old coaching inns. Martin began walking the hills of Derbyshire at the tender age of 5 when his father took him up on Kinder Scout. It was his father's love of walking, in particular his affection for Kinder Scout, that first aroused Martin's enthusiasm for hiking, an enthusiasm that has grown over the years.
