Each walk is illustrated with an accurately drawn path map. The detailed instructions are clearly laid out and easy to follow. The numbers on the instructions correspond with numbers on the map enabling you to keep check of your progression along the route.
Seventeen of the walks are within the Peak District national park boundary with four being just outside the boundary in the Matlock and Crich areas.

These ae highlighted in green text to differentiate them from the direction text. Information is provided on a wide variety of subjects from natural history, geology, ancient history, industrial remains, important people etc.
Grid references and GPS waypoints:
For each of the walk direction points there are corresponding 10 digit grid references. These can be used as Waypoints in a GPS device to check on navigation and to add interest to the walk. However you do not need to use a GPS device to follow the walks, the grid references are provided as an extra facility. In the introduction I have given a full explanation of the map grid system and how to take and use grid references.
Finally - all walks have been double-checked by experienced local walkers and every effort has been taken to ensure that you enjoy the walks and can follow them easily.
