ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jim Perrin is an award-winning mountaineering, travel and outdoor
writer, a one-time Welsh shepherd, accomplished rock-climber and a
regular contributor to The Guardian’s Country Diary. As a climber he has
developed many new routes, and made solo and free ascents of great
difficulty.
Previous books include: the acclaimed Snowdon; the
multi-award winning trilogy - Menlove, The Villain, and Shipton and
Tilman: The Great Decade of Himalayan Exploration; and the collection of
stories, A Snow Goose and other utopian fictions. His travels on a
Harley Davidson across the USA were published in the Daily Telegraph. He
is the recipient of a number of awards including twice winner of the
Boardman Tasker Prize, the mountaineering literature award at Banff
Mountain Festival and the Kekoo Naoroji award for Himalayan literature.
