Home to England’s first lowland national park –
The Broads – and with many National Nature Reserves and Sites of Special Scientific Interest scattered around the county, Norfolk is a supreme county for wildlife. Historically, the county has much to offer too, with numerous medieval churches hidden away down quiet country lanes as well as stately homes, ruined castles and lost villages.
A number of well-trodden long-distance trails cross the county –
The Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path,
Boudica’s Way and
Weavers’ Way among others. Several of the routes in this book utilise sections of these trails as part of a shorter circular walk that takes in some of the best sections of the longer routes.
